Like, totally… and other things. August 22, 2008

I am one of the few people left in the world that holds onto just about everything I am given until such time as someone pops out and decides that I need to clean  and I reluctantly do it.  One of the things that I have held onto and this will most likely be the last week or so that I am using it, is my PowerMac G4, a dinosaur in todays computing world, it is the last mac besides the iMac sitting here {a snow, G3-600} that can run OS8-9.  Now don’t get me wrong, my computer can run, and does, Leopard 10.5.4, it is my primary Lightwave and Modo  machine, with the USB2 card i threw in it, my little TV Tuner stick works, and I have no real want to replace it, other than the fact that some of the stuff I’m modelling is now starting to tax the poor machine beyond what would normally be considered good. I think Lightwave3D crashed no less than 2 times yesterday modelling the Izamani, which is now at 5.6 MB of file size.

Anyhow… I digress, his post is about older things being useful, not trash.  I would give my left eye teeth for an Amiga again, I miss those machines with passion.  Also maybe one of the old C=128’s so I could continue to play Jumpman Jr.  All in all, even though computers are much more advanced now, what can they really do differently except give us glitzyer looking graphics hmm?
